February 3, 2019 Almond (or any nut) Sweet Triangles (or any shape)
I hope you all know by now that I love to make desserts as well as good food.  I love trying new things whether sweet or salty.  Wait....this is a recipe for sweet AND salty.

You can cut them in triangles if you prefer, however I cut them in small squares and you can even get a biscuit cutter and shape them in circles or stars or...... I think just a small bite of these sweet treats is enough to get you past lunch and then have another after dinner :)

The sweet soft chewy bottom holds up the caramel sweet syrup poured on the top.  you can sprinkle any type of nut that you like over the top of this sweet chewy cookie.  You could even divide (in your head) the sheet pan in thirds and sprinkle 3 different types of chopped nuts.  Almonds, Pecans and Macadamia.  How fun would that be.

2/3 cup salted butter
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 cup corn syrup
1 tsp of good vanilla (madagascar )
1 egg
2 cups flour
For Syrup :
1/3 cup packed brown sugar
1/3 cup corn syrup
1/2 cup butter
1/4 cup whipping heavy cream
2 tsp vanilla, good vanilla (madagascar)
1 cup sliced almonds or whatever nut you choose, macadamia would be wonderful especially with carmel

Mix all wet ingredients for the crust and once blended add the flour.  Pour this in a large jelly roll pan or cookie sheet with sides.  Depends on how thick you want your crust.  The thin crust makes it less like a cookie. Makes sue the crust is in the pan evenly and then put in a 350 degree oven for 18-20 minutes.  Take out and let cool

Meanwhile mix the ingredients for the syrup to pour over the crust, except the butter, cream and vanilla.  Cook the ingredients in a sauce pan, stirring constantly until the sugar is dissolved. stir in butter and cream. Heat to boiling; remove from heat add the vanilla.'

Sprinkle the almonds over the crust and then pour the syrupy liquid over the almonds.  Then place back the oven and bake again for 15-20 minutes . Remove from the oven and cool a bit and then cut into any shape you like.  Serve with a smile.
