January 6, 2019  Pecan Sandie Bites... These are luscious caramel goodness.  You can make them gooey or firm like Pecan Pie.  I made them a little gooey this time. You can't just eat one, so make sure you are cutting them in small squares, so when you eat 4 you can tell yourself you really only ate 1 regular sized one. These have such a caramelly taste that you are going to eat the entire pan.  So cut them up first and put them in little baggies (for giveaways) and then eat one.  Since the others are spoken for, you will just have the few you left for yourself to eat :) These can be made and frozen once they are cut into small squares.  Sometimes I just take out what is needed for a friend and the rest stay in the freezer.  They don't take up much room and stack very nicely once bagged. For the Crust 3/4 cup all-purpose flour, do not pack 1/4 cup cornstarch, I know it sounds like a lot 1/2 cup confectioner's sugar (powdered sugar) 1/2 c...

January 7, 2019. Sweet and Sour Chicken. You will be licking your fingers vs washing them . My moms recipe with spareribs with some tweaks. She kept the recipe off of a CH Brown Sugar box from the 70’s and yes I still have it in a recipe box. That’s how you kept recipes in the old days. You wrote the recipes on 3x5 cards and them put them in a box with a lid with a hinge. Very unique, I love my 2 boxes of recipes. . I love how the measurements are completely written out, no abbreviations. The recipe has Catsup instead of Ketchup. They didn’t bother to write Heavy syrup, light syrup or water of canned pineapple, as those had not been invented yet. There was only Heavy syrup . You will want to use, Thighs, drums and wings for this recipe. They cook more evenly and are about the same size.  So when you don’t have canned pineapple but want to make this you substitute.  Which is what I did. 1pkg of Thighs (6) 1pkg of Drums (6) 1 pkg of split (party)wings Remember to Dou...

December 29, 2018  We are a grillin even though it is Winter time.  You can grill anytime, in fact it is better when it's cooler so you can stand by the grill longer without getting overheated. I love grilling all the time, the food just has a better smell and taste. I am going to talk about baked potatoes on the grill. Amazing right.  It is really great to do these in summer as you don't need to heat the oven and heat the entire house. Baked potatoes are delicious anytime of the year.  You can make extra and take one in your lunch.  They are pretty healthy as long as you don't add butter, sour cream etc. 4-6 medium red, yellow or gold potatoes Sliced Mushrooms, white or cremini  about 1/4 inch thick as any thinner and they loose their texture and taste Sliced Red Onions about 1/4 inch thick as well Soften Butter Chopped chives or green onions Heat gas grill to high. Tear off 4-6 pieces of heavy duty tin foil and stack. Slice 1 potato at a t...

December 28, 2018  Something so simple that you can make for a quick dessert. I love adding things to either Pillsbury peanut butter or sugar cookie pre-made refrigerator dough.  You don't have to do all the measuring and mixing.  There is really minimal mess for you to clean up.  Or in my case my husband to clean up. You want something that looks like you have been baking all day but also something you can do during the week after work and it looks great. You will be able to smell the aroma throughout your home and think of the Holidays.  It is almost like you had potpourri steeping So what you will need is 1 large roll of Pillsbury sugar cookie dough, found in the refrigerator aisle in your grocery store. 1 large sugar cookie roll Finely chopped pistachios, walnuts , almonds or pecans. December 25, 2018  Lets talk seafood for Christmas Dinner I went to the 99 Market that is an Asian grocery store and they have live Crab along with Lobster and different kinds of fresh fish. I love buying fresh, the taste of Crab right from the Ocean is like nothing you have ever tasted. They are sweeter than you could imagine.  Cooking the Crab yourself, means you won't have to eat over done crab. It comes out of the shell so easy when it is that fresh. I have the fish guy remove the head and spray it out so all the yuck is gone.  I think take it home and start a big spaghetti post full of salt water to boil. Then you will place 2 crabs in the boiling water and wait for the legs to all turn an orangish pink, then its ready. Pull out of the boiling water and either eat warm with melted butter or cool it off and pick the crab out and place it on a bright crispy green salad with any kind of fixings you like on it.You could add a hard boiled egg to the salad it goes ...
