Our trip to Germany and Austria and the wonderful food we were able to try.

We Went the Opera House and toasted with sparkling cider. The food was actually pretty tasty for being a pre fix meal and getting it all to come out at once. We started off with clear lemon chicken soup, the aroma that was filling the room was so aromatic with hints of herbs, it was very light. We feasted on Breast of Capon on a glaze of Red wine and herbs, potato gratin, and veg from Padre Prior's garden

While in Salzburg we took a cooking class at Edelweiss Cooking school.  It was by far the best cooking class we have ever taken.  We made apple strudel, pretzels and dumplings.  We all made our own and got to take any leftovers with us.  I could't believe I made all these dishes myself.  The instructor was so kind and patient.

My travels to Germany and Austria.  I thought you might want to see some of the unique and beautiful fun food that they have in these countries that we tried and loved.  There is an Italian influence in some of the dishes as well as Italian food with German influences such as Pasta with a German sauce.
Do you see all the choice selected meats,  they were all so different even though they looked the same. Some had a nice smoky aroma and cut very thin so they were easily chewed and enjoyed with the beautiful breads by the local bakery. When walking by the meat shop you wanted to just hang there all day the smoky smells that came from the shop was wonderful even if you aren’t a meat lover.
This lovely donut was light, flaky and sugary I devoured the entire thing. It wasn’t heavy like a regular donut. See how huge it is. It is deep fried but not oily or greasy. Going into the small shop was Heavenly.

Do you see the great flower design this vender did to exhibit her spreads and breads. It just looks so inviting and pretty. There were so many unique flavors. She did a great job pairing different items in her shop together and very tasty.

In the silver dish is Red Cabbage, it has a hint of cloves, vinegar, sugar and nutmeg. So delish. You see the “noodles” this is Spatzel. This restaurant put cheese mixed in theirs, talk about tasty, crispy bread crumbs on top. It’s amazing.  The plate above is Brats that were grilled, sauerkraut, potatoes. You pretty much get potatoes in some form with every meal. Yum
